West Seneca Renowned Cancer Research Scientist

Barbara A. Holdridge, a former Bolivar resident passed away on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at the Fr. Baker Manor following a lengthy illness. Born on July 6, 1936 in Corbin KY, she was the daughter of Bert L. and Geraldine Ryan Parker.

Barbara was a graduate of Bolivar Central School class of 1954. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Science and Physics from D’Youville College in 1958. She did graduate studies at Emory University in Atlanta and University of Buffalo. Barbara was a cancer research scientist at Roswell Park Cancer Institute studying Human Mammalian Genetics for 38 years, retiring in 2001. She received the First Outstanding Employee Honor in the Scientific Community at Roswell Park. Barbara authored and co-authored more than 25 publications.

Memberships include National Genetics Assoc., American Assoc. of Laboratory Scientists and Queen of Heaven Church West Seneca. She is survived by one brother Dr. Alan (Diana) Parker Waukesha WI.

There will be a memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Bolivar, NY , that will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar.
