Olean - “Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather”
Merle D. Shelley 76 of 128 East Henley St passed away Tuesday February 14, 2017 at his home following
a lengthy illness. Born August 17, 1940 in Andover he was the son of Dalson and Margaret Keller
Shelley. He first married Lucy Jean Nelson who preceded him in death on December 19, 1976. He later
married Cathy Carmen who survives.
Merle was employed by the former Macler Industries Inc., Friendship and later by McHome Industries in
Salamanca. He enjoyed camping, racing and working on vehicles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are ten children; Merle (Becky) Shelley Jr. Bolivar, Dawn (Lisa) Shelley
Olean, Edward (Melissa) Shelley Pennsylvania, Kimberly Card Olean, Tonja Bump Pennsylvania, Shawn (
Sarah) Shelley Bolivar, Thomas Shelley Olean, Charles Shelley South Carolina, Tabatha (Tiffany) Shelley of
North Carolina and William Shelley South Carolina. Also surviving are; one stepdaughter Cheryl Gross
South Carolina, many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, one sister Eloise Bates and several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Shelley and a sister Ella Mae Conklin.
Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Clara PA Cemetery.
